Editorial Policy

How DentPicks guides are created, fact-checked, reviewed and corrected — and how to tell factual guidance apart from a service pitch.

1. Who creates the guides

Guides in the DentPicks Learning Center are produced by the DentPicks Editorial Team — the in-house team that researches, drafts and fact-checks content — and technically reviewed by Vytas Kucinskas, the shop's founder and master PDR technician. A guide never claims to be written by Vytas unless he actually wrote or substantially rewrote it.

2. What the Editorial Team does

The team turns real customer questions into complete answers: it collects primary sources, drafts the guide, verifies every number and claim, selects real shop photos, and prepares the questions a technical reviewer needs to answer. The team also maintains the topic backlog and merges overlapping questions into one canonical guide instead of publishing near-duplicates.

3. What Vytas checks before a guide is labeled reviewed

Before a guide displays “Technically reviewed by Vytas Kucinskas,” the technical claims are checked against real shop practice: whether a repair method described actually works that way, whether the limitations are stated honestly, whether cost and timing ranges match what the shop actually quotes, and whether anything overpromises. Guides awaiting that review are labeled “Editorial review in progress” and are excluded from our sitemap until approved.

4. How insurance, legal, manufacturer and safety claims are sourced

High-risk claims must cite primary sources: the Texas Department of Insurance for Texas coverage and claims topics, NHTSA for safety and recalls, manufacturer repair documentation for vehicle-specific restrictions, and NWS/NOAA SPC for storm data. Insurance explanations are general information, not legal advice — policy language controls, and readers are told to confirm specifics with their insurer or a licensed agent.

5. How real repair examples are anonymized

Shop examples and before/after photos come from real vehicles repaired at the Plano facility. We remove customer names, license plates and identifying details, and we do not publish fabricated customer stories or invented quotes — from customers or from Vytas.

6. How AI-assisted drafting is used

The Editorial Team may use AI tools to help draft and structure guides. No automated draft is published as-is: every guide goes through human fact-checking against primary sources, and technical claims go through the review described above. We do not present automated drafts as text independently written from scratch by Vytas.

7. How dates work

Each guide can show up to three dates. Published is the date the guide first went live — never backdated. Updated changes only after a meaningful content change, not after formatting or automated rebuilds. Last reviewed changes only when a named qualified reviewer has re-checked the guide. Insurance, manufacturer and safety guides are re-reviewed every 6–12 months; evergreen craft guides every 12–18 months or after a material change.

8. Corrections

If you find an error in any DentPicks guide, tell us: call (866) 336-8767 or use the contact page and include the guide's address. Verified errors are corrected in the text, and material corrections update the guide's “Updated” date.

9. Commercial transparency

DentPicks provides the repair services these guides discuss — that is exactly why the shop knows the subject. Guides keep factual guidance and service promotion visibly separate: educational content first, clearly marked calls-to-action after. A guide's conclusions are never altered to sell a service; where PDR is the wrong choice, our guides say so.
