Insurance covers most hail work. For everything else, here are our real quoting ranges and the honest version of when a claim is worth filing at all.
These come from what this shop actually quotes, not from an industry average. A photo gets you an estimate; the number is confirmed when a technician sees the panel under light.
| Repair | Typical range | What lands here |
|---|---|---|
| Small door ding | ~$75 – $200 | Coin-size, shallow, away from an edge — often same day |
| Mid-size dent | ~$150 – $450 | Golf-ball to fist-size, soft creases, some trim removal |
| Large or complex | $400 and up | Deep or sharp dents, body lines, aluminum, awkward access |
| Severe single panel | $2,000 – $3,000+ | The top of the range is open-ended — heavy damage on one panel |
| Full-vehicle hail | Priced per panel | Usually paid by comprehensive insurance rather than in cash |
There is a fuller breakdown of what moves a dent between those bands in our cost guide.
We waive the deductible up to $1,000 on many approved claims, which is why customers often describe it as $0 out of pocket. Whether it applies to yours depends on the claim, and we will tell you before any work starts rather than after.
Texas treats a comprehensive hail claim as an act of nature. Insurers price on plenty of other things, so a rate can still move for reasons unrelated to this claim — the honest answer is “no, and yes”. The longer version.
If the repair costs less than your deductible, a claim achieves nothing. One or two dings is usually that case. How to decide.
The deadlines are the same whoever you are with, but the route through the app and the adjuster is not. We cover it carrier by carrier for State Farm, USAA, Allstate, Progressive and GEICO.
That is what a supplement is for, and it is normal — hidden damage shows up once trim comes off. How supplements work.
Send photos and the claim status. We will tell you whether it is a cash job, a claim, or not worth repairing at all — that last answer is one we give more often than you would expect.
