Experience and background
Introduced to paintless dent repair after the 2008 downturn ended his first business, Vytas learned the craft dent by dent — starting with hail-damaged vehicles and a metal rod, a reflection board, and a mentor's patience.
Roughly a decade as a lead PDR technician with one of Chicago's larger auto-reconditioning operations, repairing thousands of vehicles and taking the hardest panels in the shop.
Hail season took the team across the country — Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, the Carolinas — repairing storm-damaged vehicles in high volume without cutting corners.
Trained younger technicians in the U.S. and traveled to Europe to train technicians there — teaching panel reading, rod control and the discipline of finishing a repair completely.
Moved his family to the Dallas area in 2016, freelanced for local shops, and watched how the local hail-repair industry treated customers — which became the blueprint for what DentPicks would do differently.
Opened the shop at 1915 N Central Expy in Plano. Same building area since (the shop moved once, one plaza down, for more space as the team grew).
Vytas runs the shop floor and sets the standard every vehicle has to meet before delivery. The job isn't done until quality control signs it off — a sign-off customers can see in their portal.

How Vytas evaluates a repair
Every assessment at DentPicks follows the same sequence, and it is the same sequence Vytas teaches:
- Lighting first. The panel goes under LED line boards or reflection lighting — outdoor light hides dents, and an estimate written outdoors is a guess.
- Panel assessment. Paint condition inside the dent, metal stretch, panel material (steel vs. aluminum), access from behind, and whether the dent crosses a body line or panel edge.
- Repair-method decision. PDR when the paint is intact and the panel is accessible; push-to-paint or conventional repair when it is not. Sometimes a panel needs to be replaced and refinished — the honest call is part of the craft.
- Quality-control sign-off. The technician who finishes a car doesn't grade their own work. The job is marked done by whoever runs quality control, and the sign-off is visible in the customer portal.
- Limitations, stated plainly. No repair method fixes everything. If PDR is the wrong tool for a dent, the customer hears that before any work starts.
Types of questions Vytas reviews
Guides in the Learning Center carry a reviewed label only after technical review. Vytas reviews questions about hail damage, PDR suitability, aluminum and steel panels, repair quality, lease-return dents and the repair process itself. Insurance explanations in DentPicks guides are sourced against Texas Department of Insurance consumer guidance and are general information — not legal advice and not a substitute for your insurer or a licensed agent.
