The question our team is asked most often on the doorstep, answered start to finish — from the first photo to the sign-off under the lights.
Paintless dent repair works the metal back to where it started, from behind the panel. The factory finish is never disturbed, which is why the repair does not create a paint record.
A dent is invisible under ordinary light. We put a striped reflection board over the panel and read the distortion in the lines — that is how a technician sees the true shape and depth of every dent, including the ones you cannot feel with a hand.
Trim, liners and sometimes glass come out so a rod can reach the back of the dent. This is unglamorous and it is most of the labour — it is why a full-vehicle hail repair takes days rather than an afternoon.
The technician works the low point up in small increments, watching the reflection change with every push. Where there is no access from behind, specialised tabs are glued to the surface and the dent is drawn out from the front, then the glue is released without touching the paint.
The panel goes back under the lighting and is read from several angles. Whoever runs quality control that day signs the vehicle off before it is released. If a panel is not right, it goes back on the bench rather than out of the door.
Drive into the Plano shop, or send photos and we will tell you what we can see from them. On an approved hail claim we arrange complimentary pickup across DFW; Austin is served by trailer.
The claim is yours to open — it is your policy. From there we deal with the adjuster, document every panel, and submit a supplement if what is under the trim turns out to be worse than what the estimate allowed for.
You get a link to the customer portal as soon as the vehicle is dropped off, and status is posted there as it changes rather than only when you call.
The vehicle comes back with a mini exterior detail and a written lifetime warranty on the workmanship for as long as you own it. What that covers is set out on our warranty page.
Paintless repair is not always the answer, and a shop that says it always is has stopped looking. Cracked paint, a stretched panel, damage on a sharp body line or an edge can all put a panel beyond it — and sometimes replacing a panel is simply what the vehicle needs. When that is the case we say so.
Pushing metal under cracked paint makes the crack worse. That panel needs refinishing, not PDR. What we do instead.
Severe or repeatedly hit panels can be stretched past what can be worked back. What stretched metal means.
Sometimes a new panel is cheaper, faster and better for the vehicle. When replacement beats PDR.
